Every business owner has asked themselves this question at one point or another, and the answer is easily “YES!”

Not only does the internet contribute to over 2.2 Trillion dollars in retail sales annually (hostingfacts.com), but as of 2016, over 78% of Americans had an active Social Media profile (statista.com). Up 5% from 2015 and a whopping 54% from 2008.

If that isn’t enough to guide you in the right direction, then now is a good time to mention that people are turning to social networking to gather advice and recommendations for local businesses. So much so, that Facebook has actually implemented a “Looking for Recommendations” feature, which you can read more about here.

If 78% of Americans with Social Profiles are staying on these sites simply to find business, then it’s time to bring your business to them. Whether you’re working in a corporate building or on your own as a direct or independent salesman, creating and building a strong Social Profile for your Company or Business can help enhance lead generation, and drive traffic to your website. Here are a couple of things you need to keep in mind while creating your page:

-Fill out all information on the “About” page accurately, including business hours and location (if applicable).
-There is a spot for a short description of your business, and a spot for a long description. USE BOTH OF THESE WISELY!
-Use a clean cover photo that is sized appropriately to fit.
-Use a clean default photo (a logo works best) that is sized appropriately.
-Post consistently and OFTEN!

You’re all set! Welcome to a new era, good luck, and have fun!
